WWDC 2026 dropped.
Image Playground got an overhaul. Specifically, it learned to fake reality. “Photorealistic” is the word they used, but what it actually means is less plastic. Gone is the shiny, waxy sheen that gave Apple’s early generative attempts away as AI slop. Behind the scenes, new models are doing the heavy lifting, making the output actually look like photos you might recognize.
Customizable. Human-like. Finally.
It’s not just generation anymore, either. Editing is where things get interesting. Tap a spot on the image. Type a prompt. Describe what needs to change. It fixes errors in real time, a necessary feature since these things still hallucinate hands and text half the time.
Use them for backgrounds. Contact posters. Whatever fits your aesthetic.
Then there’s the hardware news buried under the software slides.
iOS 27 is here. Tim Cook’s last stage as CEO is winding down, with John Ternus expected to take the reins by September. The iPhone 18 will be the first real test of his leadership.
Is this enough?
Maybe.
Apple has played the long game for two years, staying quiet while the rest of tech screamed about AI. Today felt like the mask slipping. The updates are bigger than expected. Especially Siri.
A new Siri is coming. A real one, hopefully. Not just the chatbot that listens for five seconds and then gives up.
The race is still on, though nobody seems to be sure who is actually running anymore.
