A class-action lawsuit accuses Google of improperly publishing sensitive personal information about victims of Jeffrey Epstein, even after the Department of Justice (DOJ) acknowledged and removed the same data from its own website. The suit alleges that Google’s AI tools continued to host and even facilitate direct contact with victims, despite repeated requests for removal.

The Problem: Flawed Redaction and AI Persistence

The core issue stems from the release of Epstein-related documents following the passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act last year. Initial redactions by the DOJ were reportedly insufficient, leaving victim identities exposed while sometimes protecting those accused. While the DOJ has since corrected these errors, the damage spread when Google’s AI scraped the unredacted data.

The lawsuit claims that Google not only failed to remove the information—which includes full names, contact details, and residential cities—but also actively amplified the harm. The AI allegedly generated a clickable link allowing direct emails to be sent to one plaintiff.
